I am a photographer based in Philadelphia. I spent many years as a newspaper reporter working around the South and the West. In 2010 I was awarded the Society of Professional Journalists’ Sigma Delta Chi award for my coverage of the drug war in Juárez, México. Then, and now as a documentary photographer, I look for stories about places in transition or people who are struggling with the changes and chances of life. I have a BA in journalism from Indiana University and an MA in creative writing from Boston University.
I recently completed a project for which I followed three people for three years in a remote part of Northern New Mexico where there are few jobs and there is a significant problem with heroin. I am working now on a project about Atlantic City, the iconic American resort town on the New Jersey shore, whose fortunes have declined in recent years.
